In February we introduced the dreamPuff Rose marshmallow. Rose will not be part of the dreamPuff Favorites lineup. Rose is a special offering for appropriate holidays and custom orders. It has quickly become a favorite flavor for our marshmallow wedding favors customers.
dreamPuff Classic Vanilla Marshmallow in Fudge
Valentine’s Day we released our Fudge Dipped Marshmallows. This was a major product release…and wow…has it kept us busy! So busy that we haven’t had time to add it to our website. We offered Fudge Dipped Marshmallows in Sweetheart Four Packs or Red Hot Gift Boxes.
Yesterday large cartons from various points in the state of New York arrived on the back of an exhausted courier. There were chocolates and spices. There were herbs, florals and sweets. There were bags, sealers, warmers, torches and a whole bunch of dried apricots.
That’s right. The Spring and Summer dreamPuff marshmallow flavors are almost ready. That is what you were thinking, right?
On a slightly different note…last week a new dreamPuff customer at the Troy Farmers’ Market commented that he had never had a gourmet marshmallow before. The comment got me thinking and wondering…what really makes something gourmet? I’ve read some commentary of the topic of gourmet. What does it really mean to be a gourmet marshmallow? Or gourmet anything. dreamPuff Gourmet Marshmallows. I’m good with the idea. But it takes sort of a tilt in my thinking. About a month ago there was an article describing dreamPuff marshmallows as artisan marshmallows. I identified with that label much easier. As a matter of fact, that label didn’t cause any pause. So then the question becomes why artisan marshmallows vs. gourmet marshmallows?
I don’t have the answer yet. At some point I may need to answer the question.
Oh. One more thing… we’re pretty excited about the new products we’ll be launching in March.
It is amazing how quickly days pass this time of year. One day I’m thinking Halloween and a blink later we’re a few days from Thanksgiving.
Last Saturday was the end of our Pumpkin Spice Marshmallow season. dreamPuff Pumpkin Spice Marshmallow enjoys a loyal following. The end of pumpkin season is not welcomed. Several pumpkin fans wanted to know what flavor would replace Pumpkin Spice. Can pumpkin spice be replaced? A few pumpkin lovers suggested making pumpkin marshmallow a year round favorite. There were whimpers when I offered to consider the suggestion.
As Pumpkin Spice enjoyed its finally moments, we introduced the dreamPuff chocolate marshmallow, Chocolate Mousse. This chocolate marshmallow is fun, intense and slightly over the top.
Chocolate Mousse Marshmallow has started making friends.
So – I wonder…In the big wallow that is holiday flavor love, does chocolate trump pumpkin?
We love Halloween!
We love the legends, the myths, and the lore associated with Halloween. This season we watched the movie “Trick ‘r Treat”. This is a dark, scary fun movie centered on Halloween lore.
Ed and I popped over to the mall for what was supposed to be a quick Williams Sonoma run.
Ninja Striking A Pose
Kids were Trick ‘r Treating in the mall. Oh, my.
Many red and black toddler-sized ladybugs fluttered among the crowds. Fairy and princess remained a popular choice for girls. Boys were superheroes, robots and Jedi Knights (the Jedi aren’t nearly as exclusive has they’d have us think).
There was one wicked cool ghost. I like homemade costumes. The ghost was well done. It was a white sheet but pulled back tight to his face and held in place with a safety pin. Paste white makeup circled his eyes, mouth and any exposed skin.
I only saw one ninja. Ed reminded me that ninjas are hard to see. In all fairness, I did have other things on my mind. He said he saw at least fifteen or so.
